I am a collector of papers and fabric, memories and daydreams.
Countless everyday objects and occurrences influence my artwork.
The yellowed letters given to me by my grandparents.
The joy my daughter displays when she makes a new discovery.
The rolling hills of my backyard.
The amazing architecture and design I see when I travel to a new city.
And hazy thoughts of growing up in the woods of rural New Hampshire.
Much like the layers of thoughts, senses and emotions in memories and daydreams,
I often create highly textured areas on the canvas by layering collage and paint.
As I work, some layers are almost completely covered, some are veiled slightly
and some burst forward with clarity. My layering process is a mix of intent and chance.
Emotive use of color is a large part of the finished work. I also often incorporate text,
numbers and symbols that have a visual effect and carry meaning.
I have studied fine art and design at the Massachusetts College of Art and U.C. Berkeley Extension. Today I am a freelance artist at my home studio in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My artwork can be seen in various galleries, shops and homes across the U.S. and beyond.
